What could be better than staying in your own riverside cottage this Autumn?

Idle Waters occupies a special place beside the River Stour in the Dedham Vale AONB; recently mentioned in the Telegraph as one of the top six places for a ‘cheeky weekend’ or midweek break.

The area offers a plenty of things to do and see, such as walking, cycling, canoeing and paddle boarding from the doorstep or riverbank, we can arrange day or weekly hire (including safety equipment). The Suffolk and Essex coasts are just a short drive away, waiting to be discovered.

On top of this of course there’s no need to cook; there is every excuse to enjoy lunch and dinner at Le Talbooth on the opposite bank, or in the covered gardens at Milsoms just a five minute walk away. There is also an excellent farm shop in the village which stocks everything you need during your stay.

As you can see from the pictures, the lawns of Idle Waters slope right down to the River Stour; the cottage itself has two ensuite bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen/dining area and superb sitting room with inglenook fireplace with log burner – just the place to curl up with a book after a busy day exploring!

Maison Talbooth, a luxury hotel, also in Dedham and also owned by Milsom Hotels is home to the Treatment Rooms where they specialise in half day or whole spa days.  Book in for a pamper and enjoy full use of the outdoor heated pool, pool house, hot tub and tennis court.

Idle Waters is  available for £750 for a three night break or £1400 for seven nights during September, October and November.

  • Check in will be from 3pm and check out by 11am
  • Welcome pack to include coffee, tea, sugar, cereal, milk, 1 bottle of wine and 2 bottles of beer
  • Dogs are more than welcome at the cottage, with walks from the door along the river to Dedham village or along the Essex Way and Stour Valley Path

Simply, call 01206 322795 to book or to find out more about our delightful cottage.
