Now that Autumn has officially arrived, what better time to spend a couple of days exploring this very special part of North Essex and Suffolk? There’s plenty to see and do and we’ve got some great offers to tempt you!

Starting in Harwich, a visit to The Pier is always special and if you love lobster, now is the time to enjoy fresh local lobster before the fishermen hang up their nets for the winter. Harwich is a fascinating town with so many historical connections from the Mayflower 2020 project to the Ha’penny Pier and the Electric Palace to name a few.

Next stop is Dedham, whose most famous son is the 18th century artist John Constable. Here you can really appreciate the ‘wide East Anglian skies’ that shaped the life of this famous landscape painter. Stay at Maison Talbooth, dine at Le Talbooth, swim under the stars in the outdoor pool and relax in the spa with a treatment or two. Also in Dedham and perfect if you’re walking the Essex Way or Stour Valley Path is Milsoms, a contemporary brasserie serving great food, beer and wine in relaxed surroundings.

A short hop over the border into Suffolk finds a wealth of places to visit – the Suffolk Heritage Coast taking in Dunwich, Walberswick and Southwold, Aldeburgh, Snape (home to the concert hall) while inland the wool towns of Lavenham and Long Melford. Not forgetting Newmarket, home of horse racing. Milsoms Kesgrave Hall set in over 38 acres of lawn and woodland is the perfect base for discovering Suffolk.

To sum up, we’ve four superb hotels, each different in style and character and offering some great eat, drink and stay packages so come and see us soon!
