Did you know we’ll be joined by ballroom dance star Marleen Suurmeijer (So You Think You Can Dance) and her partner Omar Smid for the VE Day Party at The Hangar? The pair are putting on an exhibition dance with a 1945 theme so think Jive, Jitterbug and Swing and maybe ‘In the Mood’ from Glen Miller!
Our celebration event, which will mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe, takes place in The Hangar at milsoms Kesgrave Hall on Friday, 8th May, 2015.
Marleen and Omar first caught the eye of the Milsom Group when they performed at a Charity Ball, which was held at LeTalbooth in 2014. The duo are managed by Sasha Lawrence, who runs the Cut Above Dance Company, and they made such an impression that we simply had to invite them back.
Since last year, the Cut Above Dance Company has continued to go from strength to strength and have arranged a series of ballroom dancing workshops at Langham Community Centre near Dedham, Essex, from next month. These workshops, which are in the heart of Constable Country, will be run by Strictly Come Dancing’s Robin Windsor.
Make sure you don’t miss out on Marleen and Omar’s exhibition dances at the VE Day Party. Tickets cost just £120 per person and include a three-course dinner, live performance by The Band of The Parachute Regiment, an 11-piece big band, DJ and late-night rations. Part of the ticket price will go direct to The Soldiers’ Charity, as well as raising further monies during the evening.
Reserve your tickets by calling Kesgrave Hall on 01473 333741.
