For the first time ever, the Harwich Festival of the Arts is presenting a fully-staged opera in St Nicholas’ Church as part of this year’s programme. Directed by Nicholas Heath and performed by his Opera a la Carte company, this promises to be a challenging and entertaining production without being elitist or overly highbrow.

Puccini’s ‘Madama Butterfly’ is one of the most popular operas of all time, telling the story of an American naval officer stationed in Japan who arranges to take a bride. Up-and-coming young stars Elizabeth Roberts and Alex Tsilogiannis take the lead roles, supported by a strong cast and instrumentalists in what promises to be an unforgettable evening.
