Harwich Sea Shanty Festival

10th – 12th October 2014

The old town of Harwich resounds to the sound of shanties and sea songs over the entire festival weekend, with concerts, pub sessions, workshops, boat trips, music train and street theatre. Join one of the many and varied workshops teaching anything from playing the bones to writing your own sea shanty and hear shanties from all over the world at one of our evening concerts. The history and heritage of Harwich as part of the British seafaring nation is celebrated, promoted and perpetuated by local people and groups and in 2014, the festival will be concentrating on Harwich’s links with the voyages of the Mayflower and of her Master, Christopher Jones – a Harwich man!
