The buzz word in Harwich is Mayflower 2020 as the town works towards the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower to the New World in 1620. As we delve more into the history, we learn more about Christopher Jones, the Master of the Mayflower who lived in Harwich and was married twice in St Nicholas’s Church in the town; interestingly around that time the ship was referred to as ‘Mayflower of Harwich’.

The Pier is keen to be part of the celebrations in the run up to 2020 and we’re starting the new year with a  special dining offer during January, February, March and early April 2019.  The menu (which will change every two weeks) will cost just £20.20 per person for three courses; on the first menu which has a slight American theme will include New England clam chowder, Bourbon glazed chicken, steak and kidney steak and kidney pudding (and yes, The Pier fish and chips will always be on the menu!)

The special menu starts on Monday 2nd January right through to Friday 12th April and is available every day apart from Saturday.

To book or not to book?  The choice is yours either call The Pier on 01255 241212 or turn up when you are ready!

Either way, the team at The Pier look forward to seeing you in 2019.
