The Pier at Harwich were delighted to welcome a happy band of cyclists to their terrace over the weekend.

The group were supporting Steve McAllister from Bristol is celebrating his retirement by cycling around Britain raising funds for the RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea.

Starting in Penlee in early September, Steve aims to cover a staggering 8,000 miles around the coastline of Great Britain and Ireland visiting 237 lifeboat stations on the way.   We are not sure how where the Harwich Lifeboat Station stands in Steve’s list but wish him our very best wishes for the rest of the journey!

The Harwich Lifeboat Station is open everyday for visitors so next time you are at The Pier, its worth calling in and having a look at the two fully operational lifeboats.
