It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that as a result of the Government’s decision this evening (Friday 20th March) we have temporarily closed all our properties until such time as we receive further notification that it is safe to reopen.
There was no guidance regarding hotels but sadly we feel it necessary to close the accommodation as well – it is just not feasible to try to stay open when the food and beverage areas are closed.
I confirm through this Covid statement that Le Talbooth, Maison Talbooth, Milsoms, The Pier and Milsoms Kesgrave Hall will all close tonight.
I am relieved at this time of unprecedented uncertainty, that the Government has come to the aid of our business and the hospitality industry in general, as a result all our staff as well as millions across the country will keep their jobs.
Over the last few weeks, the comments we have received from our customers either in person, telephone, email and on social media has been heart-warming, and it has been uplifting to know how much our business is loved and valued by you all.
I have also been overwhelmed by the concern and support that our team have given to Geraldine and I and most importantly to one another through these incredibly challenging days.
I know that I can count on them to bounce back from this enormous set back, one that the whole country faces together and we are already looking forward to welcoming you back at some point in the summer.
In the meantime, we will continue to answer the phone and keep in touch.
So it just remains for me to say, stay safe and well and I wish you and your families all the best for the months ahead.
