We are delighted to announce that The Pier at Harwich has been awarded it’s fourth AA star. This award recognises the hotel’s professionalism, high standards and consistency and marks it out as one of the strongest performing hotels in East Anglia.

Paul Milsom comments: “We are all delighted that The Pier at Harwich has received a fourth AA star. The fourth star is a testament to all the hard work, drive and enthusiasm exhibited by every single member of staff at the hotel. We are really pleased that The Pier has been recognised by such an established and well respected guide.”

The Pier at Harwich is a classic waterfront hotel on the town’s historic quayside. It joined our collection of luxury hotels and restaurants in 1978, since when it has become a favourite venue of both locals and visitors to Harwich. It is well known for its two restaurants, The Harbourside Restaurant and the Ha-penny Brasserie, both of which take full advantage of their proximity to the coast and the fantastic fresh seafood landed in the harbour, just steps away from the hotel. The Harbourside Restaurant (on the first floor) with its impressive views of the Stour and Orwell estuaries has a growing reputation under new head chef Tom Bushell as a destination restaurant for lovers of classic and creative seafood. The brasserie, meanwhile, is a buzzy Harwich hang out, open throughout the day for everything from hearty breakfasts to morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

Fourteen individually furnished guest bedrooms can be found in the Pier’s two main buildings – the main building dating back to the 1850’s and the 18th Century Angel public house next door (acquired by the hotel in 2000). All rooms have private bathrooms, satellite TV, minibars and free WiFi.

The Pier Hotel in Harwich just has to be visited ! Overlooking the water. The Pier offers fine dining in The Harbourside Restaurant and 14 luxury hotel room accommodation.
