One Life, a film starring Anthony Hopkins about the Kindertransport saving children from the Nazis is in cinemas now, mentioning Harwich as one of the major ports to welcome Central European child refugees during WWII.
An excellent ITV feature last night following the release of the film included an interview with Michael Offord, Operations Manager at the Electric Palace Cinema and footage from the unveiling ceremony of ‘Safe Haven’, the Kindertransport statue on Harwich Quay in 2022 (pictured).
The Kindertransport statue opposite The Pier is a point of reflection about the significant history of Harwich during this terrible time in history, and well worth a visit if you’ve been to see the film.
The film will be showing at the Electric Palace cinema from 26th January – Book Now
