Explore Christmas at Idle Waters The more, the merrier
Welcome to Idle Waters, our self-catering luxury cottage set beside the River Stour in the Dedham Vale.
Idle Waters occupies a special place beside the River Stour in the Dedham Vale AONB; recently mentioned in the Telegraph as one of the top six places for a ‘cheeky weekend’. The area offers plenty to do and see, such as walking, cycling, canoeing and paddle boarding from the doorstep or riverbank, we can even arrange day or weekly hire (including safety equipment). While the Suffolk and Essex coasts are waiting to be discovered a short drive away.
On top of this of course there’s no need to cook; there’s every excuse to enjoy lunch and dinner on the riverside terrace at Talbooth Restaurant, or in the covered gardens at milsoms.
The cottage itself has everything you need for a stay with two bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen/dining area and superb sitting room with log burner. The gardens are right on the River Stour, and with such beautiful views every season, there’s nowhere better to stay!
Idle Waters is now available to book to enjoy a few days or a week in the Dedham Vale!
This convenient location is accessed easily from the A12 and provides the perfect bolt-hole from which to base yourself. From here you can simply relax, kick back and watch the river float by, head out for any number of interesting walks or use your cottage as a base whilst enjoying day trips to nearby sights and the beaches on the Suffolk and Essex coast.
The Idle Waters cottage sleeps up to four people and has two bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, a downstairs loo, hallway, lounge and kitchen. There is spacious and safe parking at the rear of the property and the other side faces on to the river and overlooks our Talbooth Restaurant. Everything is quiet at Idle Waters, now more than ever, so it’s a perfect place to escape.
Feel free to bring your dog, paddleboard or fishing rod, but do not worry if you don’t have any of those, just bring yourselves and perhaps a good book or two.
Please speak to our reception if you would like to arrange paddleboard hire.
