Catering for the Colchester Oyster Feast each year is always an honour for Milsom Catering. However, this year’s celebration was extra special, as we had the privilege of hosting the Oyster Feast at Talbooth Restaurant this year whilst Colchester Town Hall is having some structural alterations.
This annual celebration of the Oyster has been a tradition since 1845.
The Feast is a special event that brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate the city’s famous oysters. The event is attended by dignitaries from the local area and further afield, as well as members of the public who can apply for one of the limited number of tickets.
The Oyster Feast on Friday the 27th October was led by Councillor John Jowers, the Mayor of Colchester, honourable and distinguished guests enjoyed a drinks reception in the River Room and riverside terrace at Talbooth Restaurant, followed by a celebration of the ‘Colchester Native’ oysters in our marquee with many traditions kept alive, year on year.
The Mayor of Colchester, Cllr John Jowers, said: “As a former local fisherman, I know that Colchester has a long and proud maritime connection. The city’s history of oyster fishing is a testament to this, and the Oyster Feast is a celebration of that history. It is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and enjoy some of our wonderful local oysters.
