With a record field of 22 teams playing at Colchester Golf Club for the Talbooth Platinum Golf Day, aided and abetted by professional golfer Ronan Raffety, the 20th Golf Day certainly was one to remember!
As usual the weather was kind to us, the course was superb and playing well. The highlight of the day was the chance for all teams to ‘Beat the Pro’ on the 4th – a challenging hole at the best of times and quite a windy spot which kept all the players on their toes. As well as a photo opportunity with Ronan and his replica Ryder Cup all were asked question ‘who is on the top of the cup’ – none guessed but we’ll never forget the answer now.
After golf, it was time to go back to the Marquee at the Talbooth Restaurant for prizegiving, a superb dinner and a very entertaining speech from Ronan as he relived the Ryder Cup victory in 1989.
