The Pier

A quintessentially English seaside hotel, bar and restaurant

A Seaside Hotel in Harwich

As seagulls swirl above the harbour boats and the daily-caught fresh fish is landed, The Pier at Harwich are busy baking fresh breakfast pastries, grinding fresh coffee and preparing to open the Ha’penny Bistro for all-day dining, as well as the first-floor restaurant known as the Harbourside.

Harwich is a historic coastal town with much to do and see. We’ve been serving from The Pier Hotel & Restaurants since 1978 with our 14-bedroom hotel becoming a destination for guests looking for something a little different, as well as the very best seafood, wines and service.

Located directly opposite the harbour, our ground-floor Ha’penny Bistro and bar, first-floor restaurant and many of the bedrooms have views across the harbour and all the way to Shotley peninsula. Harwich is a classic British coastal destination that you’ll love discovering. It’s also perfect for cyclists, with some superb cycling routes to help you explore Essex.
